A Weekend in CH
Saturday morning, there was a fog blanketing Zurichsee (Lake Zurich). Even though we could clearly see his sailboat on the lake from his balcony, he decided we needed to go up into the hills behind Meilen to see if we could get above the fog and get some views of the mountains.
So, we headed for a place called Pfannensteil. I had been there before with my other friends who live nearby. The views were lovely and it was all just so, well, Swiss! The mountains weren't as clear as I have seen them at other times but it is still a lovely countryside regardless.
Later, I had dinner with my friends here with whom I usually stay. It was lovely to see them and we had a great visit. I had taken their daughter a Halloween costume called Dark Angel along with a black wig. She looked spectacular in it and was very, very happy. It was sure worth hauling it here from Canada. While I'd seen costumes in some stores in France, none were even close to the quality of this one.
I got back around 10 pm and, again, was treated to fabulous views over the lake.
Reto was dog-sitting a friend's Bernese Mountain dog (a cross with an Australian shepherd). So, I even got a "Swiss dog" fix. Nalle is a very sweet dog!
Sunday has been a perfect day so far and I guess i didn't leave summer behind in Nice. Having brunch on my friend's balcony, it was so warm that i nearly had to move inside - nearly!
We spent the afternoon visiting my other friends there - again sitting on their patio in the sunshine. How lucky were we! We also got to have a quick visit the Reto's brother and sister-in-law and their two children. It was interesting to see how the children in their neighbourhood were doing Halloween - it is a relatively new "event" here in CH. All the children gathered at one of the homes which was decorated and later they were going to go "trick or treating" as a group.
Later in the evening, Reto and I went out for dinner at a traditional Swiss restaurant up in the hills. Nale, the dog he was "babysittiing" came along with us. Once we were seated at a table, even before we were given menus, a bowl of water and some dog treats in a little dish arrived. Can't imagine that happening in any restaurant back home! After dinner, we stopped at the Horgen ferry terminal to get some more photos of the wonderful scenery.
